Homemade sleeping bags keep the community warm

Pictured are Pastor Andy Weidner and Catholic Charities volunteer Mary Ann Pipher, who lovingly organize the clothing closet several days a week.

These beautiful, handmade sleeping bags are a big hit at the clothing closet in Nichols, N.Y. at the Tioga Outreach Center. They are made with love from the United Methodist Church in Athens, Pa.

Inside each one is a sweatshirt, warm clothing items and personal care products. Besides keeping people warm, the sleeping bags are cheery with their colorful patchwork quilting.

Catholic Charities is happy to give these out to anyone in need. The center is located at 139 Roki Blvd. in Nichols, N.Y. For more information, call (607) 414-1023.
