More than one third of adults over age 60 fall each year, resulting in serious injuries. Falls are not a normal part of aging, and muscle strength and balance can be regained at any age.
The “Stepping On” Falls Prevention Wellness Workshop provides education to people over the age of 60, assisting them to remain independent and in their homes. Caregivers are also welcome to join the workshops. Strength and balance activities, home safety, bone health, nutrition, footwear, assistive devices, and much more will be discussed.
This program is coming to the Department of Aging (9 Sheldon Guile Blvd., Owego) on Mondays starting April 20 through June 8 (no class May 25), and will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. Refreshments will be served.
The registration fee of $35 covers all classes and the program manual (financial assistance is available). Classes fill quickly, so register today by calling (607) 757-0750 or (607) 765-4180.
