Kiwanis collects backpacks for children in need

Kiwanis collects backpacks for children in needSarah Moore of Tioga County Foster Care, left, is pictured with Beth Johnson, owner of the Owego Parkview and Owego Kiwanis Club president and her husband Mark, co-president of the Owego Kiwanis Club. Kiwanis, which is celebrating their 90th anniversary this year, held a drive to collect backpacks for foster children who have been forced to use garbage bags to pack when they move – something Moore said was degrading for the children. Kiwanis has been collecting backpacks for Tioga County Foster Care since becoming aware of the need in 2007. Johnson thanked the community for donating the backpacks and luggage that was collected, and then donated to Foster Care on March 26.
