Obituary – Marian M. Weber, age 86

Marian M. Weber, 86, of Loveland, Colo., formerly of Candor, N.Y. passed away peacefully on March 17, 2015 during a short hospital stay. She was born in Brooktondale, N.Y. to Leo and Grace Maxwell.

While she enjoyed the Colorado sunshine in her final years, Marian always considered Candor as home thanks to the many dear family, friends and memories shared while living most of her life there.

After graduating as salutatorian from Candor Central School, she attended hairdressing school and set up her beauty shop in the heart of Candor for a number of years. She married Bob Weber in 1958, and after spending time at home raising her children she became a familiar face in the Candor High School cafeteria as a cook.

Marian was an avid gardener and fabulous cook, who spent many hours in her vegetable and flower gardens, and in her kitchen. Her cookbook collection rivaled the book section of any specialty kitchen store. She found great joy in preparing wonderful meals and making beautiful flower arrangements for family and friends. She was an accomplished knitter and had a close circle of knitting friends who met every Wednesday evening to share their latest project, dessert and much laughter. Marian also enjoyed designing and decorating wedding cakes.

She was a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star #495, and a member of the Candor Grange #1466. She also took leadership roles in her local TOPS club.

Marian is survived by her husband, Bob, son Bob and his wife Siobhan, daughter Elaine and her husband Steve McGhie; grandchildren Jane, Jack, Delia and Thomas Weber, Kevin and Brian McGhie; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers, Rodney and Howard Maxwell, and sister, Mildred Cawthorne.

A small gathering to celebrate Marian’s life will be held at her residence in Colorado. Details for a service at interment in Maple Grove Cemetery will be provided in a future notice. It was Marian’s wish that family and friends plant a flower or tree in her memory.
