Our party wants to rebuild the village

Dear Editor,

Earlier this week many residents received a large postcard that appeared to be from the Village public safety committee. It actually was a highly misleading campaign piece from the “Positive Change” party, including a math “error” that makes option #4 about $600,000 less than it should be. This is the party that has repeatedly voted down hiring police officers and has actively pushed outsourcing their services.

I don’t want to get rid of the Owego Police Department. I, and the Rebuild Owego party, want to build upon what we already have in the Village. I want to rebuild our infrastructure; from things as simple as fixing potholes and uneven sidewalks, to building a fiber optic network that will attract new high-tech business to the Village.

I want to rebuild our neighborhoods with a land bank to attract new homeowners and keep tax-sale properties out of the hands of slumlords. I want to ensure the fiscal stability of our Village, so that ALL of our departments can continue serving the residents.

I am asking you to make the effort to vote on Wednesday, March 18. Your vote may be just one of thousands in the big elections for State Legislator and Governor, but here in the Village your vote can decide which direction your community will take for the next two years.

Village elections are often won or lost by one or two votes. That makes your vote very powerful. I hope by now that you know who and what you are voting for.

You have a choice to make on Wednesday, March 18. I am asking you to take your power back and entrust the future of your village to the people you can trust.

Sincerely,

Phoebe Morris

Candidate for Village Trustee
