Obituary – Janet Seymour

Pictured are Janet Seymour and her husband, Rev. Robert Seymour.

On Sunday, Jan. 25, 2015 at 2:40 a.m., Janet Seymour “Toots” finished her race and passed the baton to the next generation of worshippers of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She fought a valiant fight and emerged the victor with her faith in God as strong as the day she first believed.
An amazing woman of faith, she lived an uncompromising life of complete love and devotion to her husband, her sons, grandchildren, family, church and hundreds of friends whom she considered her family.

She adopted dozens of young men and women who all call her mom and love her as their mother. She withheld no love from anyone she met and will forever be known by all for the love she held for Jesus and the way she gave of herself to everyone she met.

Janet was an employee of Tioga County for 27 years and also a part time employee of the Owego Treadway Inn for several years making friends of her co-workers, clients and customers. Her strong work ethic was a testament to the kind of woman she was and an example to those who knew her.

Without any doubt, her deepest passion was worshipping God through dance and teaching young children to dance with total abandonment to an audience of One; Jesus Christ. Today her greatest dream of dancing before the King of kings is reality and she is experiencing the warmth of His loving embrace.

Janet is survived by her loving husband, Robert Seymour; her dear mother, A. Marie Ketchum; her sons, Jess (Tommy Shevalier) Seymour and Jake (Rachael) Seymour, her daughter, Kathleen Seymour; brothers and sisters, Larry (Donalyn) Ketchum, Ron (Pam Hemenway) Ketchum, Rose (Michael) Semel, Joann (Mark) Peterson; grandchildren: David, Jasmine, Savanna, Jess, Jr.; and Bob’s family.

She was predeceased by her father, Merton Ketchum, on Dec. 5, 2013.

Janet will be missed but her love is forever forged in the memories of all who knew her. Anyone wishing to honor her memory may kindly consider a donation to the children’s ministry at her church, Abide In The Vine Fellowship at 1277 Taylor Rd., Owego, N.Y. 13827.

A time of celebration was held at Abide In The Vine Fellowship on Thursday, Jan. 29, 2015. Her husband, Rev. Robert Seymour officiated, assisted by their friend and co-laborer Rev. Fred Hoover.

MacPherson Funeral Home, Newark Valley is assisting the family. Memories and condolences may be written in Janet’s Guest Book at macphersonfh.com.
