Guthrie Hospice will be offering a five-week support group for those dealing with bereavement. The Community Bereavement Support Group is intended for anyone who has experienced a loss. It will begin meeting from Friday, Jan. 9 at Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital.
Rev. Jeffrey Wilkinson, Guthrie chaplain, stated, “This is an alternative opportunity to reach those who are unable to attend the evening support groups. The phases of grief are universal; the way each person passes through each phase is different. By attending the community bereavement support group, you will find support from others who have suffered a loss, and will know that you are not alone in the grieving process.”
Rev. Jeffrey Wilkinson, Guthrie chaplain and bereavement coordinator and Karen Robinson, Guthrie Hospice social worker, will facilitate the support group. Topics will include the grieving process, coping skills, and communication and stress management.
The group will meet every Friday from Jan. 9 through Feb. 6, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. in 2 North Conference Room at Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Pa. Participants are welcome to bring a packed lunch, or lunch from the hospital cafeteria if they so desire.
