Stray Haven Pet of the Week for the week of Jan. 4, 2014

Stray Haven Pet of the WeekViolet is a three to four year old Coonhound mix that arrived at Stray Haven as a stray in March 2014. She has spent nearly 10 months in the kennel, and has been adopted and returned three times. The first because she had a heart murmur, the second for pulling too hard on a leash, and the third for not getting along with cats.

Violet loves to be loved and has some security issues from being in a kennel for so long, and in and out of homes. She is best suited for a home that will give her the time and reassurance she needs. The home should not have cats, and she should be tested first with other dogs. She does well with other dogs at Stray Haven, but will defend herself if she feels threatened.

There are no fees for Violet other than a dog license in New York State.

Visit Violet at Stray Haven located at 194 Shepard Rd., Waverly, N.Y. during shelter hours of Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Wednesday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
