The young in years and young at heart both came out to Muldoon Park in Waverly for horse-driven sleigh rides over freshly laid snow, pictures with Old Saint Nick, free hot chocolate and so much more on Friday evening for the annual celebration of the holiday season in the Village of Waverly; Tinsel N’ Lights.

Santa arrived at around 6 p.m., bringing wrapped gifts to give each of the children he visited with.

There was music all night long, beginning with the children in the Waverly Elementary School Choir and continuing with Waverly High School Show Choir, Sayre HIgh School Jazz Band, Waverly High School Ensemble, Waverly High School Jazz Band and the Kirby Band.

The children of the Valley were able to take a trip to a full-scale winter wonderland with their trip to Muldoon Park with dancers performing on Pennsylvania Avenue in reindeer dress as well as real, live Reindeer. Santa surely must have brought them along for the ride to Waverly.

An ice carver from Ice Works in Lakeville, Pa. sculpts Olaf, the talking snowman from the hit Disney animated film “Frozen,” at the Tinsel-n-Lights event Friday in Waverly’s Muldoon Park.

Three expert carvers showed off their respective talents with ice carvings in different areas of the park. One gingerly created a four foot tall Christmas tree from a solid block of ice, another several ice boxes covered in gift wrap, while the last created a likeness of rudolph the red nosed reindeer.

While watching the carving, visitors were offered pizza, popcorn and hot chocolate doled out by volunteers who braved the cold weather for the evening.

At the end of the evenings Tinsel N’ Lights festivities, there was a Bicycle raffle for both boys and girls bikes; a wonderful surprise for a child this holiday season.
