Police investigate fatal crash in Colesville, N.Y.

On Dec. 5, 2014, the New York State Police at Binghamton investigated a two vehicle fatal collision in the Town of Colesville, N.Y.  The collision occurred on I-88 at approximately 5:10 p.m., according to police.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2011 Honda Civic, being operated by Tatyana Buynitsky Wingham, age 28, of Mattapan, Mass., was traveling westbound on I88.  She was passing a 2013  Freightliner tractor trailer, owned by Credit Lincoln Sales of Rockport, Ind., and operated by Robert L. Jordan Jr., age 34, of Quinton, N.J.  The Honda then lost control in the passing lane on the ice covered roadway of an overpass, struck the left guiderail, and veered directly into the path of the westbound tractor trailer, where it was struck.

Tatyana Buynitsky Wingham was transported to Wilson hospital where she was pronounced deceased, while her passenger, Rory T. Wingham, age 32, of Mattapan, Mass., was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit and Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit responded to the scene and the investigation is continuing.

The New York State Police were assisted at the scene by members of the New York State Dept. of Transportation, the Harpursville and Sanitaria Springs Fire Departments, and members of the Chenango and Colesville Ambulance Squads.
