The search for yearbooks continues

Dear Editor,

In the fall of 2013, I wrote a letter to the Owego Pennysaver encouraging local residents and/or graduates of the Owego Free Academy (OFA) to donate their copies of the Tom Tom Yearbooks to the Tioga Historical Society. The purpose of this letter is to once again encourage local residents who have OFA TOM TOM Yearbooks to donate them to the Tioga County Historical Society and Museum to help rebuild their Yearbook collection.

The Museum staff has shared with me that they are still missing Yearbooks from 1931 to 2013. Please help to continue rebuilding this important part of our local history by dropping off your TOM TOM’s at the local Museum. They will be well cared for and can serve as a valuable resource as part of the local history.

Additionally, Yearbooks from Newark Valley High School (Cardinal), Spencer Van Etten High School (Alpha Omega), Tioga High School (Tiogan), Candor High School, and Waverly High School (Carantouan) are missing from the Historical Society’s archives. Gifts of copies of these yearbooks would be a tremendous addition to the their archives. Help make the holiday season a joyful one by donating your yearbooks to the Tioga County Historical Society and Museum located on Front Street in Owego, N.Y.

Sincerely Yours.

Dr. John E. Jones
