Berkshire Free Library to host holiday open house

The Berkshire Free Library invites area residents to enjoy coffee, cocoa, and homemade cookies Friday, Dec. 5 from 1:30 to 8 p.m. The Berkshire History Museum, upstairs at the library, will also be open to visitors. Santa will be dropping in from 6 to 8 p.m., so bring you camera for a photo with Jolly Old St. Nick.

The library is also holding its Annual Holiday Gift Raffle. Items offered this year are a pastel ripple afghan by Maryanne Settle, cream crocheted afghan by Lena Sherwood, gift certificate to Tioga Trails Café, seasonal jewelry, teddy bears, pitcher and mugs set, and Vera Bradley items. A donation of $1 will get you a ticket, or you can buy six for $5. The drawing will be Dec. 20.

Cozy hats, mittens, and scarves made by the ladies of the Berkshire Reading Club and the Blacksheep Handspinners Guild are also available again, as well as new items such as snazzy eyeglass covers and cell phone cases.

The library is located at the corner of Route 38 and Jewett Hill Road with handicapped parking from Jewett Hill Road. Hours are Tuesday from noon to 5 p.m., Wednesday from 1:30 to 7 p.m., Thursday from 1 to 5 p.m., Friday from 1:30 to 7 p.m., and on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
