Student to collect for homeless animals

Andrew Laubach loads the first batch of donations collected last year to be delivered to the Front Street Dog Shelter. (Owego Pennysaver file photo)

Beginning on Oct. 18, and running until Nov. 1, Owego student Andrew Laubach will be collecting dog food, toys, and blankets for the homeless animals at the Front Street Dog Shelter in Binghamton. The items can be dropped off at the Owego Pennysaver, located at 181-183 Front St. in Owego, N.Y. during business hours of Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Last year Laubach collected a truckload of items and hopes to double that this year.  Thanks to an anonymous donation last year, a $100 gift card also allowed Laubach to purchase additional items from Agway in Owego.
Laubach is an avid animal lover, with a variety of animals at home to include two dogs, two horses, three goats and five cows. To learn more about how you can help the animals at the shelter, visit www.gobroomecounty.com/shelter/.
Laubach is also encouraging those who are unable to donate to stop at the shelter, located at 110 Cutler Pond Rd. in Binghamton (near BCC) to visit the animals in need.
