Tioga Opportunities, Inc. recently announced the return of the Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program, a seasonal initiative designed to help older adults access fresh, healthy, locally grown fruits and vegetables while also supporting local farms and farmers’ markets across our region.
This valuable program provides $25 worth of coupons to income-eligible adults aged 60 and older, which can be redeemed at participating farmers’ markets through Sept. 30 or while supplies last.
To qualify, individuals must be at least 60 years old and meet income guidelines: $2,413 or less per month for a one-person household or $3,261 or less per month for a two-person household.
Coupons are distributed on a first come, first served basis, and each eligible person in a household may receive a booklet. Coupon booklets will be available at the following locations: Tioga Opportunities, Inc.’s Countryside Community Center, 9 Sheldon Guile Blvd., Owego; and pop-up distribution events on Wednesday, July 23, at St. Margaret Mary’s Church in Apalachin from 10 to 11 a.m.; Thursday, July 24 at the Candor Farmers’ Market, 101 Owego Rd., Candor from 3:30-6:30 p.m.; and Tuesday, Aug. 5 and Friday, Aug. 22 at the Seven Counties Farmers’ Market at the Owego Nazarene Church, 3732 Waverly Rd., Owego, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
