The Candor Historical Society is pleased to announce that they have been awarded a grant of $4,971 from The Pomeroy Fund for New York State History, a partnership between the William G. Pomeroy Foundation and the Museum Association of New York. The William G. Pomeroy Foundation is committed to supporting the celebration and preservation of community history. They also provide grants to provide signage in the form of roadside markers and plaques.
The Museum Association of New York (MANY) inspires, connects, and strengthens New York’s cultural community statewide. MANY ensures that New York State museums operate at their full potential as essential components of their communities. More information about these organizations can be obtained by visiting www.wgpfoundation.org and www.nysmuseums.org.
The grant funds will be used to purchase some much-needed technology equipment for the Candor History Center to help researchers in their quest for information about Candor and the people and organizations that have been part of the community. Also, more filing and storage cabinets will be obtained to hold their ever-growing collection. The remaining funds will be used to purchase new tables for researchers’ use.
