Due to the ongoing challenges posed by the pandemic, Lions Camp Badger is providing a fun and safe alternative to in-person camping this summer. While it is truly sad that camp cannot run in person, Lions Camp Badger is excited to offer a virtual program for individuals aged nine to 60-plus who have special needs.

Campers may sign up for the weeks of July 5-9 or July 12-16. They will enjoy daily opportunities for online social connections with other camp friends and camp staff, as well as special activities each evening.

Each camper will receive three “Badger Boxes” in the summer loaded with surprises and activities. There will be opportunities to participate in Arts and Crafts, Athletics, Nature Activities, Photography, Cooking, Science, Music, and much more. Badger Boxes will also include cool camp merchandise and an opportunity to enjoy an online shopping trip at their camp store.

The camp will hold an Un-birthday Party; enjoy a magic show with professional magician David Black, and travel to exciting places on virtual field trips. There will even be special sessions for campers who use communication devices to connect socially with others who speak in similar ways. On the final night, campers and their families will be able to attend a virtual concert featuring Flame the Band on Thursday, Aug. 5 at 7 p.m.

Campers can join in on live camp activities from home, while traveling, or from anywhere else where they have an Internet connection. They can complete the activities from the Badger Boxes on the actual camp days, or they can be saved for rainy days or while traveling. The options are endless.

This summer, Lions Camp Badger would also like to extend an invitation to siblings (ages nine to 17) of the campers to join them at a reduced rate if they wish. Email to patgillule@gmail.com for details.

Looking for something else to fill your summer, such as a new and exciting learning opportunity? See more information at their website, www.lionscb.org, about the virtual vocational program for ages 16 and up that will be running the first week of August.

Signing up for these programs is quick and easy. More information and registration is available at www.lionscb.org. Try to register as soon as possible so the camp can accommodate extended time needed for mailing materials and packages. Contact Pat Gillule, camp director, at patgillule@gmail.com for more information.
