The P.E.O. Sisterhood, Chapter B, of Newark Valley, recently presented two awards to female Newark Valley High School seniors that are graduating.

The annual award, in the amount of $300, was presented to Emily Holt. Emily will be attending Le Moyne College for nursing.

The second award this year, in the amount of $350, was presented to Madison Sherwood. This award was given in honor and in memory of Laville A. Williams, who was an administrative assistant in the Newark Valley District office for many years. Laville was a 40-year member of Chapter B. This award was given by her P.E.O sisters, her many friends, and her family.

Madison will be attending Western Carolina University with a major in education. The qualifications for both awards are academic standing, school activities, community service, and plans for college education.

Sherrill Ward, a P.E.O. Sister and retired social studies teacher at the Newark Valley High School, presented the awards on behalf of Chapter B on June 5, and at the annual Awards Ceremony.
