Candor Community Chorus celebrates the Fourth with music

The Candor Community Chorus presents their Independence Day concert, Heal Our Land, on Saturday, July 6, at 7 p.m. in the Candor High School Auditorium, Academy Street.

The program wraps up the July Fourth festivities with a mix of inspirational and familiar tunes that celebrate the spirit of America. Mixed in with familiar patriotic tunes you’ll hear shades of Broadway and film, a Quaker hymn, a bit of the Beatles, and re-imagined folk songs. Also on the program is a piece featuring poetry by Langston Hughes that adds thoughtful context to the holiday.

In keeping with tradition, the chorus will honor our servicemen and women with a “Tribute to the Armed Services”, a selection that includes the official songs of the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines, and Coast Guard.
Jewel Griffith directs the program accompanied by Brenda Yeier on the piano. Admission is free, and donations are gratefully accepted.
