In the Parish Hall Father White thanked St. John’s for praying for him during his seminary days and for the Red vestment priests customarily wear on Pentecost Sunday, the Feast of the Holy Spirit.

Father White explained vestment means clothing. Vestments are sacramental. While he is excising the functions of his ministry he is using the sacred powers, which he received at his June 1 ordination

Youth Group Director Julie Durand showed Father White the document the very active youth group used to pray for him. Headline was Our Seminarian. It was crossed out and changed to Our Priest!

Julie introduced Father White’s parents, retired Newark Valley Middle School Math Teacher Debbie and Lockheed Martin/IBM Owego retiree Larry White.

Julie announced Father Anthony Amato will celebrate his last Latin Mass at 5 p.m. on Monday, June 17, at St. John’s followed by a farewell reception in the Parish Hall. Father Amato leaves June 25 for his new Parochial Vicar assignment at two Wayne County parishes.
