The 2018 corn maze at Stoughton Farm, located on Route 38 in Newark Valley, is open again this Halloween season with its vast 8-plus acres of pathways, turning points and dead ends.

This year the farm features a design highlighting the history and nostalgia of the Binghamton Carousels. Broome County has that largest number of historical Carousels on record with six fully operational Merry-Go-Rounds available for patrons to ride free of charge.

Donated to the community starting in 1920 by famed industrialist and philanthropist George F. Johnson, the carousels can be found in six parks within the Triple Cities including Ross, Recreation, C. Fred Johnson, George W. Johnson, West Endicott, and Highland Parks. Each Carousel features elaborately carved scenic panels and of course the ever popular horses for children of all ages to ride and enjoy.

The Stoughton family, in partnership with maze designer Brett Herbst – the world’s leading designer of 3,000-plus corn mazes – hope to give even more people a chance to experience the unique source of good farming fun in their newly-designed maze.

While the correct pathways can be walked in under 30 minutes, most directionally-challenged visitors, adults and children alike, will require about one to two hours to travel through.

“The MAiZE” will give visitors the chance to “get lost” through Oct. 31. Hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. The last admission is at 9 p.m.

On Friday and Saturday nights, hours extend until 10 p.m. for a nighttime flashlight maze, with the last admission at 9 p.m. Group reservations are available at any time and school field trips are available during regular school hours by reservation.

“The MAiZE” is located at 10898 State Route 38 in Newark Valley, N.Y. The cost of admission to the maze is $9.95 for ages 10 and up, $5.95 for ages four to nine, and free for kids three and under.

Maze admission discounts are available for groups and field trips of 15 or more people. They also offer combination passes, which give maze goers unlimited fun with not only the maze, but the Cow Train, Hay Ride, and Jumping Pillow too.
