A team from Owego Gymnastics competed in the NY Cup held Feb. 10 and 11 at the arena in Binghamton and with over 600 girls competing.  

The level 2 Team had Eva Crawford leading the group with a 1st on vault – 9.00, 4th on bars – 8.60, 5th on beam – 8.80, 4th on floor – 8.875, and 2nd All Around with a 35.275.   

Elizabeth Abbey had a 1st on vault with a 9.15 and 5th on bars with an 8.65, and 4th all around with a 35.10. Brynna Twedt was 2nd on beam with a 9.10, 3rd on floor – 8.90, and 3rd all around with a 35.175. Kilie Allard was 4th on vault with an 8.75 and Samantha Jackson finished up the level 2’s with 7th on bars – 8.0.

The Level 3 Team was lead by Mary Divers. She placed 4th on vaulting with a 9.30, 3rd on bars with 9.275, 1st on beam with 9.05, 1st on floor with a 9.30, and 1st all around with an impressive 36.925.

Dayne Starkweather was 5th on beam – 8.60 and 2nd on floor – 9.175, and was 3rd all around with 35.30. Mckenzie Howe, competing in her first meet ever, placed 3rd on vault – 9.15, 2nd on floor – 9.05, and 4th all around – 35.05.  

Mariah Miller placed 2nd on vaulting with 9.425, 5th on floor with 8.75, and Brianna Lounsbury placed 2nd on vault – 9.20, 3rd on beam – 8.0, and 2nd all around.   

Kelsey Jackson placed 2nd on vaulting with 9.55 and 4th all around with 34.875; Kali Bailey placed 8th on vaulting with 9.25 and 4th on bars with 8.925. Samantha Shirley had a 9.0 on vaulting, good for a 7th place finish.

The Level 3 girls placed 3rd as a Team.

Kaelyn Katchuk, a Level 4 gymnast, placed 1st all around with a 36.675 in addition to 2nd vault – 8.90, 1st on bars – 9.225, 1st on beam – 9.30, and 1st on floor with a 9.25. 

Her teammate, Lexi Cheeseman, placed 3rd on vault with 8.75, 2nd on bars with 8.9, 5th beam with 8.7, 2nd on floor with 8.7, and 2nd all around with 35.05. Aubree Wenner was 4th on bars with 9.025 and 7th all around with 34.55. Mira Kittle was 1st on bars with 9.15, 4th on floor with 8.40, and 3rd all around in her age group with 34.35.

Makenzie Donnelly was 3rd on beam with a 9.125 and 4th all around with 34.25. Madison Cron was 1st on vault with 8.5 and 5th on floor with 8.40. Kaylin Twedt had an 8.7 on beam for 2nd place, and 4th all around in her age group with 34.075.  

They finished 2nd as a Team.  

Kenadie Dunlap, Level 5, placed 2nd bars with 9.15, 1st on beam with 9.325, 1st on floor with 9.45, and 1st all around with a 35.775. Her teammate, Carsten Crawford, placed 3rd on bars with 8.35, 5th on beam with 9.0, 3rd on floor with 8.9, and 4th all around with 34.50.

Rounding out the level 5’s is Lilly Trip, who placed 5th on floor with 8.45. The Level 5 Team placed 2nd as a Team.  

The sole competitor in the Level 6 division was Addison Aman. She placed 4th on vault with 9.025, 4th on bars with 9.1, and 6th all around with 35.325. 

Established in 1964, Owego Gymnastics is a Not-For-Profit organization, a Tioga United Way agency, and offers programming to include tot gymnastics, open gyms, birthday parties with many inflatables available, cheer, dance and TaeKwon Do.

  1. Love seeing stories about our local, talented, hard-working youth…so proud of these gymnasts, and the wonderful organization of coaches, teachers, and parents who encourage and support them at Owego Gymnastics and Activity Center! Thank you for covering this event.
