The Tioga County Agricultural Society and Fair board is proud to announce an opportunity for area residents to showcase their talents in the new and improved Household Arts, Agricultural Products, and Arts and Crafts contests at the 2016 Tioga County Fair.

“We added classes to the contests with the intention of mirroring the work that is done in our towns and to give folks and opportunity to showcase their work,” offered Michele Kline, this year’s event coordinator and member of the Tioga County Fair Board.

Kline added, “Many folks are producing jams, maple syrup, honey, jewelry, and so much more on their farms, at their homes or homesteads. This event seeks to bring all those budding entrepreneurs together to compare notes, showcase their products, and of course to earn a ribbon.”

The Fair Board is also working with the New York State Fair to showcase some of Tioga County’s best exhibits.

The contest offers three divisions and over 100 classes that include everything from culinary arts to vegetables and by request, a “repurposed” class. Entry forms are required in advance and there is a fee to enter. All entries must be delivered to the fairgrounds no later than 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 5.

Kline said that while winners earn both ribbons and a premium, they are really hoping that the event will create some friendly competition for the title of Best in Tioga County!
