I hope someone in the Town of Owego has paid attention to these letters and will somehow get some lighting in this area. I believe everyone thinks this would be a good idea to get this done. Bernie Sanders raised about 6.5 million dollars the day after he won the New Hampshire primary. This show of support came from thousands of average people like you and me. Not Wall Street. Not the health care industry. Not pharmaceutical companies. Not billionaires and millionaires.

The Town of Owego Highway Department and the County Highway Department do a great job in the winter keeping the roads clear, but their behavior on their radio communications system is deplorable. Language and topics are something that is not supposed to go out on government regulated airways. This needs to be a subject of discussion between the highway supervisor and the employees. They also replay music over the government regulated system which is prohibited.

Federal Agencies like the Veterans Administration and now the Internal Revenue Service have a policy of refusing to answer the phone with the option of a human interface. I have done my own tax returns for decades. Over the decades I have had the infrequent occasion to call the IRS for guidance on a tricky issue. Now they turn you to their website to sort out the 100,000 pages of the tax code, useless. Your time is free. To ask a question you must schedule an appointment in Elmira or Binghamton to ask a simple question. Our Congressman does not care that Federal Agencies are making their own rules as they see fit. The VA could not more illustrate the folly of such negligence. The IRS is the closest thing to big bother and we should be concerned about an agency that has the power to act without due process of law and cannot write competent letters. This unpublished number might help, 1-877-275-8271, and save you days and dollars.

Republican leaders are vowing to oppose President Obama’s Supreme Court nominee even before they know whom that nominee might be. This is a risky game; a year from now they might control either the Senate or the White House.

To the party who wrote doubting the comment that Hillary is a criminal. I refer you to the Judicial Watch at www.JudicialWatch.org. Numerous articles in their publication, Verdict, check it out. They have evidence of Hillary’s misdeeds, have filed appropriate court documents, but, this IS the Clintons, you know. The guilt is there, provable, and I believe ultimately indictments and a trial will happen, especially if a Conservative Republican is elected President, someone like Ted Cruz who operates as per the CONSTITUTION and does not lay down, roll over and play dead just because it is the
Clintons.

To the person who condemns the Democrats, your “logic” is exactly what has caused the demise of this country. Of course there are people who are lazy and want to take advantage of the system, but the vast majority of people actually want to work, and take care of their families, and be productive citizens. Your example of people who work hard in school, go to college, and get a good job is great. But you lost me when you assume that everyone has the same opportunity. What about the child who is smart and curious and wants to do well, but comes to school tired, cold, and hungry – through no fault of their own? Do you really believe that everyone is born “equal” and the playing field is “equal” from the beginning? I feel sorry for anyone who feels so superior that they can’t acknowledge that LUCK plays as much of a role in success as anything. And by the way, Bernie Sanders is NOT advocating free tuition for everyone. The wealthy will still have to pay for the Ivy League and other private colleges and universities. Bernie advocates free tuition at public colleges. You can still send your children to Princeton and feel superior to the rest of us.

The second appearance for a driver in the Town of Owego Court results in a one year conditional discharge with no driving and $593.00 fine and surcharge; this seems inappropriate for a driver found responsible for the death of two individuals, one in 2014 and one in 2015. The public should understand the details of the recent proceedings from our Assistant District Attorney. It is my understanding the ‘driver’ had his driving privileges revoked following the 2014 death.

I am writing in response / reaction to the article in the Feb. 14 Pennysaver on page 7, re: the fatal accident on Nov. 9, 2015. HOW can this be? Mr. Ulmer gets off with: “a one-year conditional discharge (whatever that means) with no driving” – “as well as a $500 fine with a $93 surcharge.” (Oh yes, don’t forget the surcharge!) The man had no legal right to be driving a car and is now responsible for TWO DEATHS! People can have their licenses suspended for three months for letting their insurance lapse – this man commits vehicular homicide TWICE and can’t drive for a year? And the “fine” is laughable. Is that the extent of any legal penalty?

Don’t you love it when Hillary attempts to make gender a necessary qualification for President? That, and her statement that she’s traveled to all these countries. So did the pilot of the plane, is he qualified? She touts her experience, at what? Can anyone name one thing she has accomplished, just one? She’s been a disaster as Secretary of State, she was a disaster as a “First Lady.” She was fired from several jobs prior to marrying Bill. She’s involved in legal hassle after legal hassle. Go ahead, name one thing she’s accomplished that’s worthwhile in any way!

Questions about Hillary Clinton’s cozy relationship with Wall Street have been asked in the media. Clinton has failed thus far to release unedited transcripts of her speeches to big donors like Goldman Sachs. We know Clinton received $600,000 in speaking fees from Goldman Sachs – a bank that just agreed to pay $5 billion for mortgage fraud. In 2013 she pocketed over $3 million in speaking fees from Wall Street firms. There’s an old saying in politics, “Don’t bite the hand that feeds you.” Is Clinton credible when she claims to represent Main Street while she rakes in millions from Wall Street and other large donors?

This is about the article in the Pennysaver about the second appearance at Town of Owego Court by the driver charged with a fatal accident. Now, this guy lives in Pennsylvania, comes right in front of a motorcycle coming with its headlights on, can’t see it and kills the driver and he does not go to jail. I would think this would be vehicle homicide. Then, he comes upon a Taylor garbage truck with flashing lights all over the back of it and kills another person, an employee of Taylor Garbage. Maybe somebody ought to check this man’s eyesight. He gets one year conditional discharge with no driving as well as a $500 fine and a $90 surcharge. Now this person has killed two people, what is to prevent him from driving more? What has justice done in this? I think everybody should read the Pennysaver and the articles and think about it. I hope something can be done about this. Ponder this in your mind.

You just have to love Bernie’s lack of logic and fiscal understanding. He rightly says that America is an economic basket case and a morass of rampant injustice. This I say after seven years of the nobama quasi-marxist regime. Bernie concludes we need more wealth redistribution and a 90 percent, get that 90 percent, upper income tax rate, which will cause more economic giants to leave the U.S. for greener pasture tax haven. Even the communist countries like China and Russia have incorporated near capitalist economic systems to build much stronger internal economies. Hillary’s pandering to nobama’s supporters is an outright joke as anybody can rightly see.

I’m interested in learning more about the process of nominating a president. A caucus is voted by the delegates, is that true? And the primary by the people? How do they get the delegates? Is it dependent on the population of each state and how does one become a delegate and what are the duties of the delegates at the convention? I understand we only vote in the Electoral College. Any information on this would be very helpful. I’m not sure how this works.
