Cora Allyn, age 86.
A mother holds her children’s hands for a little while and their hearts forever. Cora Allyn, 86 of Warren Center, passed away peacefully in her sleep Monday morning, Jan. 25, 2016. Cora was born on Jan. 4, 1930 in Hop Bottom, Pa., a daughter of the late Leo and Iva Pearl (Collins) Myers.
On Jan. 30, 1954, at the First Church of Christ Church in Endicott, N.Y. she married Ashley C. Allyn; together they celebrated 57 years of marriage until his passing on May 28, 2011.
Cora was a loving wife, a devoted mother and a caring grandmother; her greatest pleasure was to give whatever she had to others. She lived her life to the fullest with grace, dignity, humor and courage. A farmer’s wife, Cora enjoyed cooking and baking for her family. She treasured the time spent with her family and always looked forward to family celebrations and holidays.
Cora will be greatly missed by her children, her daughters and sons-in-law: Denise and Tom Davis of Friendsville, Pa; Diane Allyn and Chris Butler of Newark Valley, N.Y.; her son Gary Allyn of Warren Center, Pa.; her special grandchildren: Ashlee Allyn, Chris Allyn and Amber Bahny; and her sister-in-law: Alice Abell of Warren Center, Pa.
Several nieces, nephews, and their families also survive. Cora was predeceased by her parents Leo and Iva Myers; her husband Ashley, her son Chris Robert Allyn, son-in-law: Lee Bahny; sisters: Marion (Alvin) O’Connor and Mary Ellen Butler; her mother-in-law and father-in-law: Mary and Merle Allyn; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Beva and Milo Wilson, Audra and Ellen Allyn; and Emerson Abell.
Family and friends were invited to attend a period of visitation on Friday, Jan. 29 at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel in Nichols. A funeral service and celebration of Cora’s life was held on Saturday, Jan. 30 at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel with Pastor Larry Jennings, officiating.
Cora will be laid to rest, on what would have been their 62nd wedding anniversary in the Warren Center Cemetery. Memories and condolences may be shared by visiting www.sutfinfuneralchapel.com.
