Catholic Charities Tioga Outreach Center wants to thank the local elves that helped make their Christmas toy giveaway a success.

First, the Tioga Center High School shop class built a Spiderman beanbag toss game to be donated to a local family. The shop class made many of these and five sets went to the Tioga Outreach Center via the elves at Community Care Network of Nichols, Dot Richter and Kem Baker.

Then, another elf, Lynn Richter, picked up the Toys for Tots for Catholic Charities and delivered them with a borrowed truck from another elf, Barb Crannell. Before that, Kim Blackwell from Toys For Tots shopped with a league of elves to buy toys, and sorted toys donated from many anonymous elves in the community.

Along the way, Lockheed Martin also donated toys and their employees adopted families from the Catholic Charities list. Dollar General in Nichols collected toys as well. Mountain Chapel Church donated hats and mittens to go with the toys.

Together, Christmas was made brighter in homes across the county, and that’s the spirit Catholic Charities is grateful for.
