The Owego Lions Club recently visited the Zion Lutheran Elementary School and Preschool for “Make a Difference Day”, and provided some much needed items for the school.

The Owego Lions purchased soccer balls, volleyballs, and jump ropes for the Physical Education Program at Zion. The members individually purchased glue, glitter glue, construction paper, crayons, colored pencils, markers, paintbrushes, pencils, pencil sharpeners, erasers, index cards, loose-leaf paper, stickers, puzzles, and other items for the Art Room as well.

Owego Lions President Donna Henry, Lion Eve Kretsch, and Lion Phyllis Ludwig presented the items to the students and staff on behalf of the club.

Zion Lutheran Elementary School is a preschool thru sixth grade program located at 3917 Waverly Rd. (Rt. 17C) in Owego, N.Y. The school has been in existence for over 30 years serving the community and providing a positive, Christian based learning environment.

Currently, 47 students are enrolled at the school. The staff consists of preschool teacher Jen Schendel; kindergarten through first grade teacher Heather Roseboom; second and third grade teacher Ruth Schian, fourth through sixth grade teacher Janet Pawlak – who also serves as Principal, Physical Education teacher Carrie MacBeth, and Music and Art teacher Ann Marie Woodard.
