Janet Thomas is good candidate for Town Board

Dear Editor,

It is with enthusiastic support that I endorse Janet Thomas for our Owego Town Board. She is running on both the Democratic and Working Families ticket.

Janet has outstanding credentials, which make her a superb Town Councilman. She has lived in the Town of Owego for the past 30 years which gives her an in depth understanding of the issues facing the Town of Owego. While we were busy with our leisure time she was attending Town Board meetings to be a better informed citizen.

A former IBM software project manager, she understands the critical importance of well thought out short 100 and long term goals. She has seen the serious effects which illegal drug abuse have done to our community. In her leadership role as President of the Apalachin Library she is a working force behind the scenes at the Library.

So what does this extremely qualified candidate have to offer us? Janet has a deep passion to serve and use her talents. For each of five issues (infrastructure, smart energy, jobs, safety, libraries) currently facing us, she has a concrete, well-researched plan of action.

We need transparency and accountability from our Town Board. Residents and businesses need to be apprised of exciting smart energy initiatives. There are available resources which need to explored and could have a huge impact on job production.

To quote Janet, “I fully support the efforts of our town, county, and regional officials to educate people about growing abuse, and to seek knowledge of treatment approaches that can help users beat their addiction and keep our community safe.”

Janet’s plan for our libraries is to assure that adequate funding continues since libraries are so critical to our quality of life here.

To summarize, I see Janet having concrete viable plans to deal with the above critical issues, which face Town of Owego. We need Janet. Janet needs you. Please remember that you only need to vote for one candidate. Choose wisely for the one candidate who will best represent you.

Sincerely,

Mary L. Place
