Experts have found that raising the wages of fast food workers would lead to a four percent rise in prices. If McDonalds announced tomorrow that they were raising the cost of a Big Mac by only four percent so that they could double the pay of their employees, their business would skyrocket.

What a hoot. A team of scientists on their way to verifying Global Warming by going to the Antarctic to measure the ice fields was foiled. There was way more ice than they anticipated. They couldn’t get where they needed to go, so they had to turn back. Guess Mother Nature doesn’t like to be messed with after all.

It seems a shame that the New York State legislature is having such a hard time coming up with a living minimum wage for all workers. Here is a bunch of guys and gals who need no requirement to hold office, who are pulling in ABOUT 100 THOUSANS DOLLARS A YEAR for a part time job that includes very liberal expense accounts, benefits, medical, retirement and many hidden perks, and they just do not think that a person who is the primary home wage earner deserves about 30 THOUSAND DOLLARS A YEAR. Pretty sad, isn’t it?

To the party who, in last week’s Pennysaver, tried to demean and diminish Donald Trump by referring to the fact that he had not served in the military, I’m assuming YOU have. I’d also like to ask, since it seems you might be an Obama Zombie, which branch of our military did Barack Hussein Obama serve? Other than occupying the Oval Office, due to voter chicanery, etc., exactly what has this president contributed that has resulted in a better America? What has he NOT lied about in the past 6-plus years? Guess maybe he brought to the office just what every thinking American knew he would, NOTHING!

So glad to find out where some of the natural gas from Owego’s Stagecoach Natural Gas Storage Facility is headed – China! It is going to PetroChina International Co., Ltd., 27 Chengfang St., Xicheng District, Beijing.

Isn’t it a shame that not one of the people attending the movie in Louisiana was legally armed so they could have taken out the shooter? We need more legally armed, law abiding, and taxpaying citizens, not fewer, as per the 2nd Amendment.

GO! Donald Trump GO! Finally the silent majority has someone who tells it like it really is. He speaks the truth in a loud voice and we are behind him all the way. Keep it going Donald and let your voice be heard, for we believe in Freedom of Speech. No more political nice talk and do nothing but destroy our great U.S.A.

I am writing in regards to a dog that is constantly barking on the corner of Paige and East Temple Street. I don’t know how your neighbors can stand sitting outside and listening to the constant high pitch barking. My wife and I went out to spend some time in our back yard and all you can hear is the dog and someone shouting at it. My wife informed me that this has been going on all day. This has not been the first time either. Please have some compassion for your neighbors, and take the dog in or find a better home for it. We do love dogs, but not barking all the time.

The lowering of the flag to half-staff is an act signifying deep national mourning. It is only to be done upon the order of the President. Lately, every small town bureaucrat has taken it upon himself to order such a display.

John McCain, when he entered the Naval Academy in Annapolis he was a recruit. He graduated last in his class at the academy. They said he also had a drinking problem and was a womanizer and was a very poor military man. He was very close to being kicked out. He then was sent to Viet Nam and was captured and was a POW. He was beaten in Viet Cong custody for five years. He had a chance to get released because he had a relative who was high ranking in the military. He said no, not until my fellow POW soldiers are also released. So that’s the story on John McCain.

The government is talking about decreasing benefits for social security disability recipients by 19 percent because they said they would run out of money for social security down the road.

Follow the news. The Republicans in Congress have come up with another idea that will make their many friends and donors happy. They want to turn the nation forest timber over to private industry. These guys may be right under Donald the duck’s thumbs when he says that they are a bunch of incompetents. Is there anything they can do that isn’t motivated by greed or arborous?

It is easy to see that even the average Democrat buffoon wants anyone but Hillary as his or her candidate. The Democrat elites want to dump her too but they fear the extreme left wing Marxists who now run the party. With all the scandals Hillary is involved in, it will only take one obvious provable charge to have the elites drop her like a hot potato. Let’s hope the truth about Benghazi, her email fiasco, her daughter’s $200,000 a year job, her Clinton foundation manipulations or one of many other scandals will become known in the next few months.

“WHATS WRONG WITH US”? All the umpteen candidates running for president in 2016 have their own agenda, either for or against some cause or two but they all either reject or just fail to ignore the two biggest problems. “IT IS THE ECONOMY STUPID” and the second is Illegal immigration. I grew up during the great depression and we did not need or expect big brother to dig us out. It was not easy but we did it on our own. Perhaps people should have listened to JFK when he said, “Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country”. If we keep spending more than we earn this country is doomed.

What is Tioga County becoming? When a person can walk into your house while you are taking a nap and take anything he wants. This is what happened to me even with an alarm system – they simply walked into my home and took my U.S. Mint coins. I hope people out there realize what’s going on in this so-called United States.

The intersection of Erie Street and East Avenue is a dangerous place. Traffic from Erie street is supposed to stop at the stop sign before checking for cross traffic and entering East Avenue. Some don’t stop, some don’t even slow down. Perhaps another sign that says wait for cross traffic should augment the stop sign. A monitor from the OPD would be a good idea too.
