The recent terrible attack on members of a community in South Carolina brought attention to its State flag. It is the Confederate flag. A fall-out of this is the denigration Thomas Jefferson, Gen R. Lee, Andrew Jackson, and other Founding Fathers. It is terrible we are so ignorant of our history and understanding. If American’s knew the great intolerance and downright meanness of Great Democratic Progressive Woodrow Wilson they would find him to be the greatest contradiction of all we value most. See what one of Wilson’s first acts of President was.

As an educator, I can flatly state that Common Core is about INDOCTRINATION not EDUCATION and needs to be stopped!

Just wondering when they plan to mow along the roads. I live on Halsey valley road and so far I saw three baby deer hit by cars that can’t see them because of 4-foot high grass. I know the county has enough personnel because every job I see them on there is two working and five watching.

Today an accident happened at 63 North Ave. in Owego. A car crashed into a motorcycle, the back of the bike was stuck under the front of the car. A man was seated in the car; he was a senior, I believe. After 10 or 15 minutes the state trooper was yelling, “I need someone now” over and over again. The man needed help, maybe CPR or oxygen. The answer yelled back at the trooper was, “They have no driver.” This is unheard of; we have the firehouse and the ambulance in the firehouse and there’s no driver. The firemen did nothing to help this man. This man sat in a hot car for over 30 minutes. When they finally removed him he was collapsing. Something really needs to be done. Why didn’t the firemen have oxygen or perform CPR? What would have happened to this man if his condition were worse? Do people just die because there’s no ambulance driver? I took many pictures. Don’t know if you will print this but I hope you do.

Has anyone else noticed that “president” nobama never makes a statement about Islam that could be construed as negative, and never makes a comment at all having to do with Christianity? Gee, I wonder why that might be?

Perhaps a refresher is needed about the new way of recycling. We are not just throwing recycles into the garbage. Tioga County now has what is known as single stream recycling. Using this method, the recycles are taken unsorted to a facility off Route 434 near Beck’s. Once there they are sorted by machine and by hand into the different types of materials. As they are no longer sorted by the pick up crews at each stop, the materials are just put into a garbage-type truck in bulk. Using the garbage-style truck makes the bins easier to handle by dumping them into a waist-level handler versus having to toss the various materials into the multiple compartments of the previously used trucks. It also simplifies unloading at the recycle facility. I hope this helps understand.

I’m sure you are aware of the fact that our dear NYSEG / Iberdrola electricity provider wants to raise rates. To compensate for losses as a result of the flood, they claim. At the NYSEG / Iberdrola distribution center in Horseheads, there, right now, several hundred trucks are sitting in line, waiting to be “distributed”. This is the second such fleet; I mean hundreds. Now, I know they probably need new trucks, but SEVERAL hundred at one time? They can’t be phased in over time? I’m sure all those trucks were not all damaged as a result of any flood. Kind of sounds like a boondoggle, don’t you think?

Blessed Trinity Parish at St. Margaret Mary Church is very grateful for the generosity of those who donated to our St. Pauly Textile shed. Donations of clothing, shoes, sneakers, belts, purses, blankets, sheets, pillowcases, towels, drapes, and stuffed toys help people all over the United States and the world (donations are never cut up or shredded). Information on this organization can be found at www.stpaulytextile.com. God bless you all!

It’s happening again in Candor. There are two hound type dogs tied out on Candor Hill near a small brown house. I’m sure they have igloos but that doesn’t make up for the fact that they are chained up and walking and stuck around trees on a hillside with mud. First it was a beagle type dog on Weltonville Road, corner of West Creek Road and now it’s two on Candor Hill road. What is going on? Is there no conscience for these pitiful sad dogs? If you can’t take care of them properly then give them up to somebody who can! Those two dogs have to be dirty and covered in bugs and ticks. It’s disgusting!

It’s Thursday, the July 16, a beautiful day and I’m sitting on my porch but there are these trucks going by dumping dirt and gravel on 17C. Every two minutes a truck is going by, dust is flying, the noise. When is this going to stop? They have been doing this for a month now!

I believe that Donald Trump knows what he is talking about in regards to drugs coming in from Mexico. After hearing on World News this last week, one of the biggest drug dealers in Mexico has escaped from prison. Now we’re in trouble. I believe Donald Trump knows what he is talking about.

History repeats itself for those who will not learn. Neville Chamberlain, the British Prime Minister, signed the Munich agreement with Hitler. Chamberlain called it “peace with honor and peace in our time”. Bill Clinton paved the way for a nuclear North Korea through a phony treaty. Reagan was the great communicator. Now the great appeaser, nobama, is greasing the skids for a nuclear Iran. Voters get what they deserve.

This is to the reader who saw the Taylor Recycle truck pick up recycling and put it into a garbage truck. There is a reason for this. They don’t have to have their old style recycle trucks because it takes so much longer. What they do is put it into the garbage truck, take it to the recycling plant in Apalachin, unload it and a bobcat scoop loader picks it up and puts it into a hopper and it goes up on a conveyer belt and then they sort it all out. Then they come around a second time to pick up the garbage. I’ve seen this from my own home. So, just to let you know, it is not going to garbage sites.

Well Mr. Trump you might have put your foot in your mouth but you’ve got to learn one thing. The American people have been so brainwashed they don’t understand the truth.

I would like to say thank you for the great job mowing the roadsides on Red Brush Road to the Town of Nichols Highway Department.

Follow the news. Has everybody had enough yet of The Donald attacking the president? Of course that’s Donald the Duck who ducked military service, who wouldn’t know a veteran if he had one in front of him. Give me a break! The clown car even deserves better than this. Ask your fellow republicans.

I have news for the person who thinks social security has a $2.8 trillion surplus. It is a trust fund and it is entirely U.S. government IOU’s. Our clever leaders have used any surplus cash paid in to reduce the deficit. The interest on the trust fund at 4 percent is $112 billion per year, which is paid by more IOU’s, what used to be called usury. If the U.S. goes bankrupt which it appears to be doing, I wouldn’t call on getting a penny more than what’s paid into social security and that could mean a drastic cut.

According to media reports, Donald the Duck dodged the Vietnam conflict with draft deferments, and went to a military high school where he achieved high honor. He was awarded a medal for neatness! What a guy!

The U.S. taxpayer is subsidizing Planned Parenthood to the tune of many millions of dollars per year, this for an organization that sells fetus body parts from $50 to $100 a piece. Planned Parenthood leaders are on videotape laughingly negotiating the cost of these body parts. There is no shame in these so-called doctors, and the heinous behavior is supported by socialist Bernie Sanders and by Hilary Clinton, whose campaign has already received $10,000 by Planned Parenthood.

I was glad to see the Owego Town Board decided to leave the Highway Superintendent an elected position. I feel this supervisor had a bad idea to make it an appointed position for many reasons.

I just wanted to take the time to thank all the respectful drivers that choose to obey the law by using their turning signals as required. Every day we see drivers twisting in and out and around other vehicles while driving and traveling to and from their destinations. It doesn’t take talent to learn how to use the turn signal. Please respect the law and others while driving. It will save lives.

The confederate flag came down in South Carolina but suddenly here and around Owego that flag has gone up. The flag represents the dividing of a nation. A war was fought and the end result was again as it had been before, one nation under one flag, the stars and stripes. Shame on those people who are flying a flag that stands for division, and in some cases hatred. What an insult to the men and women of this country who have fought and died to preserve us as one nation.

The valley of the doom takes another whack, this time not by Mother Nature but by the bloodhounds of the federal government. We’re going to miss Senator Libous very badly in this area. He has done so much for the people here. It’s a pathetic crime by the federal government.
