I want to say that the Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial Motorcycle Ride this past Saturday was one of the best organized such event I have ever seen. Harvey, Dan, and Bill did a tremendous job. The timing was perfect throughout the trip. It was such a well organized event that immediately after the singing of the National Anthem, I half expected Air Force jets to fly overhead. Thanks to all the people who turned out to acknowledge us along the entire route, which was on Route 38 all the way except the last half dozen miles to Hannibal. Thanks to all the various town police and fire departments for directing traffic and allowing us straight through access all the way. Thanks to the older gentleman standing at the side of the road in Newark Valley saluting all of us as we rode by. And again, special thanks to Harvey, Dan and Bill, for a truly special day including their connection for the great weather all day.

I would like to respond to the person who commented that the new Logan Hill Preserve in Candor is a farce. They were of the opinion that the town was going to spend a fortune to build better road access to the site. Nothing could be further from the truth! The Logan Hill Nature Preserve was a gift to the Finger Lakes Land Trust (FLLT) from the Darlington family. The town has no commitment to do anything for the preserve. However, the Land Trust partnered with the Candor Chamber of Commerce, the Candor Community Services Group, and the Candor Historical Society to host a public meeting about the property on June 8. The meeting was well attended and well received. We thank all of the local organizations that see the value in creating and maintaining areas like this, especially in our own back yard. While it is true that motor vehicle access is limited, foot traffic is welcome! The Land Trust intends to create a public access point on Catatonk Creek for fishing and paddling. Finger Lakes Land Trust owns or operates 35 preserves and conservation areas. All are open to the public, free of charge. The mission of the FLLT is to conserve forever the lands and waters of the Finger Lakes region ensuring scenic vistas, local foods, clean water, and wild places for everyone.

How do I know this? I am a volunteer. For more information about the FLLT or to volunteer, visit www.fllt.org.

Contact your member of Congress right now and let them know you want the USPS to restore the standards of delivery that the USPS used to have. Let them know you want overnight delivery six days a week. Jobs, jobs, jobs.

It is pretty sad when three adults can destroy between $10,000 and $20,000 worth of personal property in Tioga County and be judged as juveniles. These guys were 17,18 and 19. That is beyond high school age and they should be judged accordingly. I am sure that the people who own the property that was set afire and destroyed feel the same way. I was a victim when some young punk stole my lawn property several years ago and damaged it, and they got off as ‘youthful offenders’, too. HOGWASH! If this is the law, let’s update it.

I like the new layout for the Price Chopper ad. It is much easier to read.

“Quoting a fourth century bishop, he [Pope Francis] called the unfettered pursuit of money ‘the dung of the devil’, and said poor countries should not be reduced to being providers of raw material and cheap labour for developed countries. Repeating some of the themes of his landmark encyclical Laudato Si on the environment last month, Francis said time was running out to save the planet from perhaps irreversible harm to the ecosystem.”

Since 1986, all the presidents starting with Ronald Reagan were going to take care of the immigration and also build a wall. Not one of the presidents since has taken care of one of the problems. The reason is they want all the immigrants legal and illegal to come so they could vote in the presidential elections. Both parties, republicans and democrats, figure they would have a better chance with more people in this country. The whole immigration issue is political, and neither party wants to take care of the immigration problem.

I see that got rid of the confederate flag, what’s next Old Glory? It seems like these people get their way all the time in this country. We’re turning into a bunch of woosies.

~

So NYSEG wants more money. Over the past four years I’ve managed to lower my electric usage by 100 kilowatts. Should be a lower bill, right? Ha, my cost rose by $100, and they still want more?

~

I think the confederate flag coming down in the south is a good thing. Maybe we will actually become a union now. One nation under God

The Greek economy is headed for disaster because the Greeks will not live within their means. They want welfare benefits, early retirement and entitlements in which they can’t afford. Without German backing the Greek economy would collapse. The United States is not far behind. If China calls in our $1.2 trillion debt to them our U.S. economy would also collapse. The Federal Reserve commission continues to monetize $80 billion of our debt every month, devaluing the dollar and making the stock market the only gain in town for the super rich to keep increasing net worth. The day of reckoning is fast approaching. The question is will the U.S. economy implode under nobama’s inept watch or will that disaster be handed to the next president.

I understand there are about 65 natural gas wells in Tioga County which are vertical wells, not frontal. Where are they and how productive are they?

I’ve read some really dumb statements but the one on Isis is tops! For the uninformed, Isis means the Islamic State in Syria. Get it? Syria! They have their main training camps in Syria, the exact sites are known to the United States military and have been published. Isis numbers about 50,000, about 20,000 of these were marching across the open desert in Iraq when our dear leader, nobama, sat there and forbade U.S. military attacks which would have obliterated that entire Isis bunch of thugs. Another dumb statement was you can’t beat an idea or movement. I suggest that caller tell that to the proponents of the master race in World War II. Nobama will do nothing but postpone, obfuscate, and lie until we get a real leader.

Just a quick brief comment. I live on East Campville Road and just got back from walking my dog and good thing because here he comes that Mustang down the hill, going about 100 to 150 mph. Good thing the kids all play in their back yards. I’m going to call the cops on him.

Yesterday was garbage day and I saw Taylor Garbage take the recycle bin and throw it in the garbage. Are we recycling? Are we really trying to save the earth or not?

~

This is about the recycling and garbage pickup from Taylor. We go through the trouble of sorting out the recyclables thinking we are going to save the environment but I noticed they dumped them right in the back with the rest of the garbage. That doesn’t seem right, does it?

I just want to put in a comment about the Tioga County Fair that just ended on Saturday. I give kudos to the president John Shumacher and all the crew that worked with him, and all the volunteers that worked with him to get this fair back on track to offer more variety than has been. Each year it could be more and more, so it’s up to the community to offer input so that they can get better ideas. I thought the fair went off well. It was very nice and well organized, therefore I give a lot of thanks to all the people that volunteered, all the vendors that came in, all the shows that were put on and many, many thanks to the community for their support.

~

I’d like to comment on the Tioga County Fair. I went there with my children and this year was very reasonable, pricewise. You could go in for $5 and spend the whole day and just watch all the shows, which were very nice. They had animals for the children, bounce houses, and two or three shows that people could watch. Kudos goes out to the staff and all the new people. The rides were very reasonable. I really appreciate Tioga County doing this, and for their continued work to keep this fair going.

I am so disgusted with the Tioga County Judicial system and being a paralegal understand how the togs of the wheel turn, BUT when the divorced papers have been agreed upon and filed, why is this easily addressed and signed document collecting months of dust? The act of divorcing is emotionally taxing for the couple and children if there are any. All the I’s are dotted and the T’s are crossed, but the delay of the judge’s signature puts these lives in limbo. It’s not just our office but others have told me about clients who have been waiting for over four months. Maybe Tioga County Legislators should consider hiring a provisional part time judge to attend to these mundane legal documents.

Follow the news. Congress, led by the Republicans, now have an approval rating of about 8 percent. That is absolutely horrible for the people who are supposed to be representing us. Yes, that want to kill the Iran nuclear deal, kill! That’s the favorite way out for the Republicans. They want another war, it’s obvious. What buffoons! American people deserve better than those jokers.
