Summer internship program offered by Tioga United Way

The Tioga United Way is once again sponsoring the Student Engagement Program. Working with one of the Tioga United Way Partner Agencies, this program is intended to inspire and provide “rising seniors” (during the summer prior to entering their senior year) with a greater understanding of not-for-profit agencies, and how these agencies make a difference for local residents and organizations.

The student will develop skills in team building, leadership, problem solving, fundraising, and community relationships.

To be considered for the program, students need to submit a letter of interest through their guidance counselor.

The letter should include the following: In what previous volunteer activities have you been involved? Why do you feel you should be selected? What do you think you can bring to the respective Partner Agency? What do you want to experience from this program/Partner Agency? Any other pertinent information you feel will enhance your selection?

There will be a $500 stipend to be paid in two installments: July 1 and Aug. 1, to help defray any costs (transportation). In addition, Release Statements / Authorizations need to be signed by the student and parent / guardian, and an interview with the Partner Agency needs to scheduled.
