The Binghamton Future 9th grade team attended the Central Western AAU Niagara District National Qualifier in Seneca Falls last weekend. They placed 2nd out of 13 teams in the 9th grade division. This earned them the honor to attend the East Coast AAU National Championship in Hampton, Virginia.
The event is one of the highest levels of competition you can participate in for AAU basketball. The tournament will be held from July 31 to Aug. 3 at the Boo Williams Sports Complex.
The Future went 4-2 overall. They defeated Ithaca United and lost to the Primetime Ballers out of Rochester, N.Y. in pool play. In single elimination play they defeated the Finger Lakes Fury, Rap (Rochester) and again Ithaca United. They faced the Primetime Ballers team out of Rochester in the Championship game and lost a hard fought game by 16 points.
