I can’t understand why the people up in the Halstead Development can’t park their cars and trucks in the driveway or in the garage or on the grass when it’s frozen so the snowplow has a clean shot to go on the road. I can’t understand why they can’t do that. It would be so much better for people driving up there.

To the Owego Village members who are planning on running again in March, I would suggest you look at your record and realize you are not working in an Italian restaurant. You seem to be throwing everything at the wall like spaghetti and if it sticks, fine and if it doesn’t you table it to study it. How about studying it before throwing it at the wall?

Talk about dumb predictions. Remember the obamacrat buffoon who in November said the price of gas would skyrocket because republicans controlled both houses of congress? You should worry though about Obama trying to raise gas prices by dictating millions of acres of government land to be off limits to drilling. Just look at his recent actions in Alaska and you will see the emperor’s latest attempt to tank our economy.

~

Of course you cannot predict the weather with 100 percent accuracy. That would be like saying you will have a bowel movement every day at 9 a.m. There are too many variables in nature to forecast exactly.

Our world is not one big garbage dump. The money people are trying their best to turn it into one. Who cares if our air, water, and quality of life are affected. As long as they will get big bucks, go for it. They’ll just make sure it won’t happen where they live.

Bank fees, late fees, over limit fees, fees and penalties and high interest rates. Who can you thank? Deregulation. Deregulation removes fixed rules, removes a state of consistency. What is deregulated can basically run amuck. More for me, less for you. If greed didn’t exist it might work – but greed exists, therefore the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

I would like to say that I found out some very sad news this weekend. The coach, Jim Haggerty has passed on. He was a very, very good man and coach. I was very honored and privileged to play on the 1974 team. He helped me through some hard times. In February of 1975 I was involved in a very serious accident. He found out I had tried to commit suicide and called me into his office. He spoke to me, we sat there for hours and we talked about everything from football to the sun coming up. I really believe if it hadn’t been for him I would not be alive today. I would just like to say he will be missed by all the players that played under him and people who considered him a friend.

After being away for some time I was pleasantly surprised to find 96.9 AM radio. If you enjoy classical country give it a try. The programming is excellent!

This is for the Town of Owego Highway Superintendent, you should be thoroughly embarrassed. We have lived off of Day Hollow Road all of our lives and our roads are in deplorable condition. Since when can’t the Town of Owego big plow trucks plow by themselves and get the shoulders of the road. We have to have a pickup truck with a plow on it going behind to do the sides of the road because that big plow truck can’t do it? This is embarrassing and this is a waste of the taxpayer money. I hope this is corrected and soon.

I broke the zipper on my good jacket and I was wondering if anyone has the number of the lady that says she fixes zippers. Call 687-2492 if you can help.

I guess it must be nice to be convicted of murder twice and be able to walk the streets like nothing happened and still nothing going on. If this were a person with no money they would have been thrown in jail a long time ago! If you have money I guess you can do whatever you want, commit murder and still walk the streets.

This is a concerned citizen about sidewalks in the wintertime. They should be shoveled by the owner or the apartment manager. I’m a walker and half the time I have to walk in the street because the sidewalks are not shoveled. I realize this is not for everybody, it is for the people who do not shovel their sidewalks. If they are elderly I understand or can’t shovel. They should get someone to shovel for them. On another note, these landlords that do not fix up their apartments when they should and wait until wintertime and say we have to wait until warmer weather. I, personally am fed up with my landlord. I will not give out names but my door is blanketed to help keep out the cold air. I’m just fed up with landlords that do not attempt to fix the problem temporarily until they can fix it for good.

If the mayor is trying to consolidate emergency and fire departments of the village he just isn’t going far enough. He needs to consolidate the village. There’s no sense to have a village of Owego and a town of Owego. We do not need a village of Owego.

Does anybody know how somebody is getting disability checks and is able to work and making a paycheck too? If anybody knows put it in the Pennysaver. I’d like to know how they could do that. I thought disability was because you can’t work.

My husband had several boxes of urostomy supplies because he lost his bladder back in ’07. If anybody is interested in them please give me a call at 972-1714.

I wonder if we could borrow the King of Jordan to be president for awhile. When an American citizen was beheaded by Isis, nobama was out golfing a half hour later. When Isis burned a Jordanian pilot, Jordan’s leader hung two terrorists. Can you imagine a leader like that running the U.S.? Not for two more years.

I’m just watching the world news and they are talking about the train accident and if the country is waking up to the hazards caused by speed, you wonder if Owego has woke up or are they going to continue to sleep through a tragedy permanently.

I want to thank the road supervisor of Nichols for being such a good neighbor to two of his. One is laid up for a while and the other has to do all the work. Thank you again!

We would appreciate if anyone has any empty heart shaped candy boxes for re-crafting, if they would drop them at our shop in Waverly. Please eat your candy and drop the box off at My Girlfriends Jewelry Box, 222 Broad St. in Waverly after 10 a.m., Tuesday through Saturday. A re-crafted sample will be on display at the shop.

Officials asked homeland security to provide armed forces jets to create a no-fly zone for three days over the football field where the Super Bowl was played in Arizona. I sure do not like to have my tax dollars spent for a private enterprise that sells $5,000 tickets or any ticket price to protect their investment.

Worst Village Board, EVER!

Want to help snow removal? The parking of any vehicle at any time on location upon any street or public highway within the Village of Owego for a period of time in excess of 96 hours is hereby prohibited.

I had some alterations done on my wedding dress and my bridesmaid’s dresses made by Jean. I just wanted to say Thank you! She did a great job and saved me a lot of money!

Marcellus shale-gas production is running into problems in nearby Pennsylvania. A recent article in the Philadelphia “Inquirer” noted that northern Pennsylvania gas was priced at $1.13 per thousand cubic feet; to break even, producers usually need $2.50 – $3.00. Drilling companies and service companies have announced less activity and layoffs. The national Landmen’s association canceled its planned meeting in April because of “lack of interest. Nobody is writing new leases.” The Pittsburgh “Post-Gazette” adds that WPX Energy (located in Tulsa) has sold its holdings in northern Pennsylvania; it can do “much better in Texas or Oklahoma.” It’ll be interesting to see if the buyer, Southwestern Energy, that acquired some 46,700 acres, will begin clamoring for New York to reverse its decision not to have fracking. Stay tuned for either the sound or the silence!

Republican ex-governor of Texas, Rick Perry was upset at higher education costs in State run institutions. He demanded they come up with a Bachelor’s Degree program that costs no more than $10,000. They did it! You know how? By eliminating things like basket weaving, putting condoms on cucumbers or carrots, conflict resolution 101 and similar nonsense, accomplish nothing courses! If Texas can do it, why can’t other states? They could, if we demanded it instead of bowing to their need to control!
