On Jan. 7, 2015, State Police out of Owego arrested Thane E. King, 54, of Candor, N.Y. for the class D felony of Grand Larceny 3rd. An investigation had determined that King had stolen $6,261.75 of unemployment insurance benefits from the New York State Department of Labor. An investigator from the NYS Department of Labor had determined that this theft had occurred over the last two years. King was arraigned at the adjoining Town of Owego Court and remanded to the Tompkins County Jail in lieu of a $10,000.00 cash bail.

On Dec. 30, 2014 at 10 a.m., the Tioga County Sheriff’s Department arrested Charles A. Grems, age 35 of 1508 Carmichael Rd., Owego, N.Y. for Fugitive From Justice. This charge resulted from the above subject having a warrant out of North Hampton County Sheriff’s Office out of the state of Pennsylvania for a DUI charge. The defendant was arraigned before Justice Patrick Hogan of the Town of Owego Court and remanded to the Tioga County Jail without bail. Grems is scheduled to appear in Tioga County Court in front of Judge Gerald Keene at a later date.

On Saturday, Dec. 27, 2014, officers of the Owego Police Department arrested Christopher A. Titus, 28 of Owego, N.Y. for violation of the Sex Offender Residency Restrictions under the Village of Owego Local Law. Titus was issued an appearance ticket to report to the Village of Owego court at a later date.

On Sunday, Dec. 28, 2014 officers of the Owego Police Department arrested Scotti M. Marshall, age 21 of Owego, N.Y. for an Unlicensed Dog, a violation of NYS Agricultural and Markets Law and No proof of Rabies Vaccination, a Violation under NYS Public Health Law. The arrest was made subsequent to a reported dog bite incident that occurred in the Village of Owego. Marshall was issued an appearance ticket to appear in Village of Owego Court at a later date.

On Jan. 2, 2015, the Owego Police Department arrested Crystal M. Meadows, age 39 of Vestal, N.Y. for one count of Trespass, a Violation, and Conspiracy 6th, Petit Larceny and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 5th, all Misdemeanors. The arrest was made after an investigation into Crystal M. Meadows and another individual stealing metal on Dec. 20, 2014 from a local business and then selling the metal. Crystal M. Meadows was issued appearance tickets to appear in Village of Owego Court at a later date.

On Friday, Jan. 2, 2015, the Owego Police Department arrested a 19 year old Owego, N.Y. male for one count of Unauthorized use of a Motor Vehicle, a Class A Misdemeanor and one count of Driving without a license, a violation. The charges are the result of an investigation of a motor vehicle accident that occurred when the operator drove an Owego Fire Department vehicle through a closed door causing damage to vehicle and door. The suspect was issued tickets to appear in Village of Owego Court at a later date.
