East Stroudsburg University, which put together a record setting 20-1-1 season that ended in the NCAA Division II Tournament last weekend, placed a region-best five players on the Daktronics All-Atlantic Region team, including four first-team selections.
Laurel Neira, from the Owego Free Academy, started all 22 games at center back and produced six goals with headers off corner kicks – a key feature of an ESU attack that led the PSAC with 2.55 goals per game.
She had four game-winning goals, including two late in games – an OT win over Bloomsburg, and a winner with 1:37 left in regulation against Seton Hill.
Neira will advance to the national ballot for All-America consideration.
