Owego Lions Club to ‘Make A Difference’

Throughout many communities nationwide, Make a Difference Day is on Oct. 25. On this day many service organizations, and volunteers will have a common mission to help improve the lives of others.

The Owego Lions Club members decided to “make a difference” in some furry creatures’ lives at Stray Haven Animal Shelter located in Waverly, N.Y. Members collected bags of dry dog food, canned cat food, cat treats, dog treats, kitty litter, puppy pads, pillows, and bath towels for Stray Haven. These are just a few of the items needed daily for the animal shelter. Lion Linda Thomas’ grandson, Kyle, delivered the items to the shelter.

The shelter provides many services such as pet adoptions, spay/neuter programs, pet therapy, cruelty investigations, and humane education. They don’t receive any operational funding fully relying on generous donors and adoptions.

The Owego Lions Club continues to serve the community in many different ways such as providing eyeglasses, eye screenings, social events for the blind and sight-impaired individuals, and blizzard boxes to name just a few. Their motto is “We Serve”.
