Lourdes physician receives award from Upstate Medical

Kevin J. Corcoran, DO, FACEP, medical director of the Lourdes Emergency Department was recently presented with the President’s Award for Voluntary Faculty Service by Upstate Medical University. Dr. Corcoran joined the College of Medicine faculty in 2012 and assumed responsibility for coordinating the Emergency Medicine clerkship at Lourdes Hospital.

Described by medical students as “an outstanding teacher”, he has worked to ensure a positive clinical experience for the medical students. They also cite his “enthusiasm for teaching” and “effective ability to convey information in a meaningful way.”

State University of New York Upstate Medical University recognized 23 individuals for distinguished service to the university at Upstate Medical University’s 2014 Fall Faculty Convocation and Presentation of Awards ceremony on Sept. 17.

Among the honorees are members of the university’s Academy of Upstate Educators, comprised of individuals who consistently demonstrate excellence in educational activities, make a commitment to academy activities to enhance the educational environment at Upstate, and provide a resource to faculty colleagues and administrative leaders as they address education-related issues.
