You’re In Good Hands…With Jesus?

Feeling secure is super important. There are lots of things that make us feel safe and sound. Health is a huge one, and 10 years ago, I was diagnosed with cancer. I had surgery, and now I’m cured, and I’m so grateful. Cars are another big concern, and when one breaks down, life can really grind to a halt while we try to figure out what’s wrong, how much it’ll cost, and where to get it fixed. Then there’s the financial side, especially when the money runs out and there are bills still piling up. Sadly, our security can be threatened from all sorts of angles, and then there are those unexpected surprises that just pop up. Because of these situations, we can get frustrated, and a feeling of insecurity can easily creep in.

But there’s a kind of security that life can’t touch, and it’s the security that God offers to those who are open to it. The Bible tells us that God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit are all involved in our lives and will never let go. John 10:27–30 (NLT)27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from me, 29 for my Father has given them to me, and he is more powerful than anyone else. No one can snatch them from the Father’s hand. 30 The Father and I are one. This lovely passage shows us that God the Son has us in His hands, and then it

says that God the Father has us in His hands. But what about God the Holy Spirit? In another part of the Bible, it says that the Holy Spirit lives inside us: Ephesians 1:13 (ESV) 13 In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit.

Clearly, the Bible teaches that God the Holy Spirit lives inside a believer, God the Son holds the believer in His hands, and then God the Father holds the believer in His hands. The only true and complete security comes from having a relationship with God the Father through God the Son.

But how does someone enter into a relationship with God the Father through Jesus? How do they find salvation and peace? Let’s start by acknowledging that we’re all sinners, as Romans 3:23 (NLT) gently reminds us: “For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.” Second, believe that Jesus died on the cross and rose again to pay for your sins, as Romans 5:8 (NLT) says: “But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.” Third, confess Jesus as your Lord. Romans 10:9 (NLT) tells us: “If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”

The only place that you will find true security is in embracing Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior. God’s love will hold you close, and when you die, you’ll be with Him in heaven forever. I urge you to trust Jesus now, for He loves you.
