The Sayre American Legion Post hosted the August Athens Senior Luncheon meeting, with Representative Tina Pickett as their guest speaker. They had 15 members and four guests: Larry Raymond, Douglas Mapes, and Abbie and John Michael Palumbo (who joined the group).
Burt Cole, vice president, said grace before they enjoyed the dish to pass foods and pineapple upside down cake. Frank Malone grilled the burgers and hot dogs.
August Birthdays include Della Schudder (7) and Gerald Keener (10). Reported ill are Sandra Keener, Della and Don Schudder, Dana Smith, Ellen, Yvonne, Nancy, and others.
Ginny Malone opened the meeting at 1:15 with the secretary / treasurer report, and then the guest speaker, Representative Tina Pickett, discussed many topics and answered questions.
Tina’s office is able to help with a variety of problems that seniors might experience. The Sayre number is (570) 888-9011. They are already working on the 2024 Senior Expo. The town meeting at the expo this year was very informative, warning the public (seniors included) of the risks of dishonest people with misleading phone calls, mailings, and Internet scams.
