Maddie’s Meadows Pet of the Week for the week of May 17, 2020

Maddie’s Meadows Pet of the Week

This handsome boy is another example of what Maddie’s Meadows does. This is Bootsie. When he came here early in January of 2019 he was very emaciated and his ears were frost bitten. I don’t think he would have lasted more than a day or two more outside.

He showed up at someone’s house and was clearly looking for food and shelter. He was in very bad shape. The man said he couldn’t keep him, and asked if I would take him. It was clear there was no other choice, so Bootsie became one of mine.

The vet checked him over and said that he didn’t have anything wrong with him other than starvation and frostbite on his ears (the tips of his ears eventually fell off).

I started his shots, got him fixed, and started feeding him four times a day. He went from 7-1/2 pounds to 12 pounds. He is a very muscular, healthy, sweet boy now. He follows me everywhere I go, especially if I go to the kitchen. I cannot imagine why he ended up homeless and starving in the winter, but I was so glad that I could help him.

If you would like to help Maddie’s Meadows continue to do the good work I do, please send a donation to Maddie’s Meadows, P.O. Box 445, Owego, N.Y. 13827.
