In March 2017, President Trump signed into law the Vietnam War Veterans Recognition Act of 2017, designating March 29 of each year as National Vietnam War Veterans Day.

On March 29, in recognition of this Day and to honor and welcome all Vietnam era veterans’ home; the Tioga County Veterans’ Service Agency is hosting its first annual Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day.

The day will begin with a wreath laying ceremony at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial at the Tioga County Courthouse at 9:30 a.m.

At 10 a.m., and following the wreath laying, a ceremony at the Owego VFW Post 1371, located at 207 Main St. in Owego, will recognize and honor all Vietnam Era veterans in attendance, the families of those killed in action in Vietnam, and families of those Vietnam veterans who have recently passed away.

Lunch will be served to all in attendance from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

This event is open to all veterans and their supporters and is sponsored by the Tioga County Legislature, Tioga County Veterans’ Service Agency, Owego VFW Post 1371, Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 480, Department of Defense Vietnam War Commemoration, Office of New York Senator Fred Akshar, and Clear Path For Veterans – Southern Tier.
