Looking back, it was a walking tour of the village about four years ago that heightened Julie and Ike’s interest in browsing at homes for sale, and then, considers it meant-to-be when the Lake Street property caught their eye.

Julie had shared in a previous Owego Pennysaver story, “It’s like the building spoke to us,” and additionally, from their website, “We fell in love with a building and the Owego spirit, and haven’t looked back since!”

Extending their passion for the community further, the couple has embarked on another labor of love. Today, Ike and Julie, along with Ike’s father, Lester, are making new history by renovating 249 Front St. in Owego and transforming the property into the Belva Lockwood Inn. Expected to be open by the fall of 2018, the luxurious inn with hotel-style amenities will feature five rooms with private baths, and one disabled-access room. In addition, catering for special events will be offered.

When asked about the recent top restaurant ranking, Julie replied, “What I think the importance of being number six means is that it proves that business is alive and well in Owego, New York,” and added, “People often underestimate what’s happening in Tioga County, and let it be known, things are happening!”
