Town of Barton tire and scrap metal cleanup planned

On June 2, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and June 3, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Town of Barton will hold a tire and scrap metal cleanup for Town of Barton residential households (this includes the Village of Waverly). The collection point will be at the Town of Barton Highway Gravel Pit, the first right over the railroad off of Broad Street Extension and Ellistown Road, Waverly.

The collection is held to minimize potential areas for mosquitoes to reproduce and reduce health-related problems transmitted through insects and vermin, and to assist in beautifying the Town of Barton.

Up to eight tires per residential household will be accepted at no charge (up to 20-inches); up to an additional eight tires will be accepted for a fee of $1 per tire. Tires on rims will be taken at no charge and will not be included in the eight-tire limit. No tires over 20-inches will be taken.

Clean scrap metal will also be accepted at no charge and proof of Town of Barton residency is required.

This is event is hosted by the Tioga County Department of Solid Waste, and funding for this program is provided by Upstate Shredding-Ben Weitsman.

Any idea of a date for 2018

    • We are starting to receive notices, so I am sure the Barton date will be coming up soon. You can contact the host of the event to find out more. They just scheduled one for Owego, so I’m sure the rest of the scheduling is underway.
