Just Keep Believing fundraiser planned for June 8-10

For the 10th consecutive year, Jessica Burrell and the Burrell family will be holding the Just Keep Believing (JKB) Foundation fundraising events. The events will take place June 8-10 at the Owego Free Academy and Marvin Park.  

The Just Keep Believing Foundation is an organization whose primary objectives are to raise awareness and generate proceeds to find a cure for spinal cord injuries. 

The foundation was originally created to benefit Jessica Kress Burrell, a former Owego Free Academy (OFA) student-athlete who was injured in 2008 and sustained several injuries including severe spinal cord damage. Through her personal dedication and hard work, including several rehabilitation programs, Jessica has made incredible strides and improvement over several years.  

She graduated from OFA and went on to Ithaca College where she earned her degree in Speech-Language Pathology and maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA over those four years. Jessica subsequently earned her Master’s Degree and plans to begin practicing in the near future with a primary goal of helping others.

For the fundraising, the High School Co-Ed Volleyball event will take place on June 8, from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Teams consist of five to 10 players with a minimum of two women. The entry fee is $50, or 10 JKB raffle tickets.

The Adult Co-Ed Volleyball event will take place on June 9, from 5 to 9 p.m. Teams consist of five to ten players, with a minimum of two women. The entry fee is $100, or 20 JKB raffle tickets. 

The Adult Co-Ed Softball event will take place on June 10 at 8 a.m. Teams, with a minimum of four women, have an entry fee of $250, or 50 JKB raffle tickets. 

At all events there will be concessions and JKB gift baskets. Because it is the 10th year, the organizers will have special team gifts for the community members that support this great cause.
