Open House and Halloween celebrated at the new Campville Fire Station

Anna Fox, of Owego, spends her time reading books at the Open House event held Sunday at the new Campville Fire Station.

On Sunday, Oct. 30, the Campville Fire Department held an Open House event and Halloween celebration at their new station located at 1315 State Route 38 in Owego, just north of the Tioga County public safety complex.

With volunteers on hand, the community was welcomed for “Trunks of Treats”, fire safety demos, and a tour of the new facility, which features several rooms for operations.

According to Fire Chief Mark Daniel, the station opened this time last year, with Sunday being the first Open House event.

The station, he added, houses two trucks, an ambulance and a vehicle for emergency medical calls. He also noted that between the three Campville stations, with one located on Route 17C and the other on Gaskill Road in Owego, that volunteers respond to approximately 70 to 90 calls a month.

“It’s been a busy year,” said Daniel, “so we wanted to get people in here to see the station.”

Sunday’s event did exactly that, with children arriving in costumes with their adult guardians, and plenty of activities taking place to reign in the Halloween spirit.
