Severely disabled middle age gentleman is looking for an older 3-wheel ATV to get around in his yard for daily chores. It can be in working condition or not. Please call 642-9912 or 642-8001. Thank you very much.

I cannot believe the idiots that support Donald Trump. He doesn’t have the background to be president and it would be a disaster. All he does is brag about himself and bash others.

~

Well the scammers are at it again. The phony phishing schemes, you get a call from supposedly the IRS that you’re under investigation, call this number and they give this following number based in Washington, (206) 451-9338. I’m trying especially to protect the elderly who are scammed a lot. They don’t know your name, and they are trying to get your information. It is a phishing scheme and don’t even pay attention to it.

~

Threatening IRS scam calls are targeting the area again. I received a recorded message stating that the IRS was filing a lawsuit against me and I had to call 206-451-9338 to get more information about the case. If you receive a similar call, report it to the Federal Trade Commission by calling 877-382-4357. The IRS never contacts people through the phone. This is scam!

I found an answer to everybody’s problems. You can find it too in the 50th chapter of psalms, verse 22. It’s all there.

~

I’m just reading in the Pennysaver where a woman wants to donate baby afghans or lap afghans. Try the Tioga Rural Ministry or Planned Parenthood on Central Avenue. I’m sure they would be glad to have them.

To the person who called about the lights on the bridges in Owego, FYI if you lived in the Village of Owego instead of stopping a few times during the holiday season and additionally if you were as observant of the large sign designating the village area limits, you would realize that the Hiawatha Bridge to the east is not part of the Village of Owego while the Court Street bridge is. Thus the village is lighting our bridge, the Village of Owego has no say over the bridge to the east. That would be the Town of Owego, two separate entities. So thanks for your concern, but I’m sure the people who actually live in that area have voiced their concerns to the TOWN officials and have been given whatever excuse regarding the lighting on that bridge. We in the village may pay a few extra dollars more in taxes but we do get good value for our money and by our lights being on. I hope you have the same responsive government where you.

~

I’m calling in response to the caller saying Al Gore is wrong. I think he is absolutely right and people should think about it. He was absolutely right, the temperatures, everything is going crazy.

~

Well it was nice to read the articles from the two candidates and their parties for the Village of Owego. I’m wondering when someone is going to run a party for we’re the last mayor of Owego and dissolve the village, get rid of the OPD and stop the garbage that we can’t afford to pay for.

~

News flash! The price of fuel has nosedived in spite of nobama’s promise to destroy the coal and oil industry. Since much of our foods and other goods are trucked in and fuel is now very cheap, why have we not seen drastic decreases in our store prices? I have seen 50 percent increases in some food products in the last year, especially in the higher end grocery stores. I will give you one guess.

~

I’m wondering about code enforcement. Shouldn’t the owners be told about the house being torn down around them in case of gas or water line breakage? Don’t they call the police? They’re paid by the Village aren’t they? Just wondering if anybody else has problems with their property.

~

I’m looking for someone who can transfer music from records to a CD.

~

I think it would be nice if the Owego Elementary School would shine a light on the American flag at night. It’s only the right thing to do. Just saying.

~

Speaking as a graduate and taxpaying property owner in the Tioga Central School District, my school taxes went up over 17 percent last year! I did not vote so I should not complain. They need new management from the school board down to the administration. You can’t blame all of these problems on cuts in state aid. I definitely will be there to vote NO in this year’s election.

~

I wish the news services would stop calling every single winter storm that we get a blizzard! They’re not all blizzards. Scientists have specific requirements or descriptions for a blizzard among which are over 35 mph winds that continue for more than three hours. We haven’t had a real blizzard for decades!

~

I’d like to comment on the Town of Owego claim that they’re getting their cell phones damaged. Well, I think there are a lot of people that don’t deserve to have one. They can’t just pass them out like candy! I can see the highway superintendent, he can have one but the rest of them, let them sign it out just like in the military. You damage it, it’s yours or you pay for it!

The night Benghazi went down Hillary Clinton went home between 9 and 9:30 and left Leon Panetta in charge to handle the situation. When she left she knew the situation was very bleak and things were starting to come down. I don’t really think she cared. Lots of times she was a figure head only in her position. While top aids and others did her job, when things went bad she didn’t like to answer questions about it. When things went good, she couldn’t wait to take the credit and more too.

Beep, beep beep! This just in from your political reporter. Donald Trump is to name Secretary of State, Pee Wee Herman. This just in, just in! Breaking news to follow. Thank you, thank you very much!

~

Hillary Clinton, the self proclaimed progressive and also multi-millionaire, announced that she beat poor old Bernie Sanders. Hillary got 49.9 percent of the vote in Iowa, poor old Bernie got 49.6 percent, some of that was based on six coin flips. I think Bernie ought to ask for a recount.

~

Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders are socialists. Hillary looked into the faces of family members who have lost loved ones and in Benghazi and told them it was because of a video and the attack was spontaneous, yet emailed her daughter it was the work of terrorists. Do we want a known less than the truth from an individual in the White House who thinks people are expendable?

Approximately four years ago I asked the question, why can’t our school taxes be billed in three consecutive payments every other month like Binghamton. For you that may not understand how this works, you get a statement, which you have the option of paying all at once or divided into three bimonthly payments with no penalty. How much easier would this be for our senior citizens or even those who may have had an emergency like a sickness to have this option? I posed this question to the superintendent of schools following the 2011 flood. His reply was, there is not enough time to implement this procedure at this time. Now it’s over four years later. Has this given our school board enough time to implement this program? Why can one school district offer this and another one can’t or won’t? I’m fortunate enough where I can pay mine all at once but what if? Maybe statewide this should be made an option for all senior citizens.

“’They aren’t farms,’ says Nancy Jensen, the local agricultural extension agent. ‘They’re pretty much factories.’ And like so many factories in our modern, deregulated America, the swine containment facilities are dangerous to those who work in them. For example, the way the swine containment facilities handle the vast amount of manure produced by vast numbers of contained swine is simply to let it drop through slats in the floor into a pit beneath. As you can imagine, even though you probably rather would not, an incredible collection of noxious gases collect within the pits. Ideally, huge fans disperse the fumes so that they do not affect either the swine or the people who are working with them. But the fans are machines and machines break down and, when they do, somebody has to go down into the pit and fix them.” from “What Happens to Farmers’ Interests After Everyone Packs Up and Leaves Iowa” by Charles P. Pierce

I am sure the Pennysaver doesn’t decide what inserts to include. The advertisers decide where they want them distributed and pay the newspapers to include them. If you don’t see your favorite insert there let the store know you’d like to have it distributed in your area.

~

The Court Street Bridge is in the Village of Owego. The bridge by McDonalds is in the Town of Owego. Two separate governments. Two different decisions on lighting.

~

Can anyone tell me about a chemical that I can put on my lawn to keep the dogs from do-doing in my unfenced yard? The droppings would embarrass a pachyderm. Please help me. Thanks.

~

Please check grocery receipts before leaving a store, you’d be surprised.

It amazes me how little some GOP hopefuls know about the job they are seeking. They accuse President Obama of “gutting the military” and thereby putting the nation at risk. In fact, the congress has total control of military spending. Too often defense contractors decide how the money will be spent since they have bought and paid for a majority of congress.

I wonder if Rand Paul remembers reading the story of the Grinch. The Grinch hated Christmas because he thought all the Whos cared about was getting free stuff. He didn’t realize his mistake until he heard the Whos singing together after he had redistributed all their stuff to the top of Mt. Crumpit. Just like the Grinch, Rand Paul must learn that a real community or nation is one where its people watch out for each other in a spirit of brotherhood. The right-wing elites preach community, compassion and Jesus, but they also practice greed, bigotry, and division. Maybe that’s because their hearts are three sizes too small.

Our federal legislators want an investigation into the 417 percent in heroin use in our state. I think that is a no brainer. At one time, people all die who overdose. Now the state is spending millions to supply law enforcement with an antidote, therefore the risk is not what it used to be.

~

Because my comment would be too long for your reader’s column, I have added a website below so that our readers can read it for themselves, which is called: “What Every American Should Know”. http://beforeitsnews.com/opinion-conservative/2016/02/what-every-american-should-know-3099644.html.

The Tioga Central board members and the superintendent of Tioga Central need to get their heads out of the sand. The handwriting is on the wall. The pool needs expensive repairs and it is time to cut it out of the budget. Think of all the money that will be saved. The taxpayers are fed up with your spending plans. Taxes need to stay at a reasonable level. Lots can be saved if the pool is gone. The district cannot afford such a luxury. Let the voice of the public be heard.

~

I watched the Iowa caucuses. How ANYONE can in good conscious, actually vote for the criminal that Hillary is proven to be is beyond me! She needs to be indicted, and JAILED!

~

To the party who asked last week what Rush means when he refers to “drive by media.” He’s referring to the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Boston globe, CNN, MSNBC, CBS, NBC, all the sycophant media that simply report what the Libs tell them to report. No thinking involved, just do the bidding of the Progressive Democrats, PERIOD!
