Reunion raises funds to help feed the hungry

Dear Editor,

Owego Free Academy Classmates from 1975 and 1976 turned their 40th/39th reunion over Columbus Day weekend into a fundraiser and food drive for four local food pantries.

The classmates held a food drive on Saturday afternoon at St. Patrick’s Church in Owego that was supported by classmates and community members. The attendees of the reunion also raised $2,400 from fundraising efforts that took place during the Saturday evening activities.

One of the activities involved an auction of items donated by classmates that own their own businesses or businesses from the local community. The reunion committee would like to thank all those who donated and helped with efforts to help fill the shelves of the local pantries.

The $2,400 will be split evenly between the Lounsberry Food Pantry, the Open Door Mission Food Pantry, the Park Terrace Food Pantry and Tioga Rural Ministry Food Pantry.

The classmates hope the donations will help meet the needs of our community during the upcoming holidays.

Sincerely,

Bonnie Hand
