Owego Highway Superintendent speaks out

Dear Editor,

I would like to address the recent comments concerning my position as Owego Highway Superintendent. There have been a number of unsubstantiated claims leveled at me in a public forum, and then printed as though fact.

Over the past few months, two of the five board members have been leading the charge of making this position appointed under the guise of being a political necessity, when it is clearly a personal vendetta. I chose to take the high road, not to take part in the banter and mudslinging, and get on with the duties I was elected to do.

In closing, there are a number of issues facing this town, including a project that is underway without full funding for completion. I will continue to have a good and productive relationship with the rest of the board members, while the others reap the political and personal repercussions at such a divisive attempt to gain control of all aspects of this town’s government.

Mark Clark
