Carolyn R. Orth of Owego, N.Y., promotions coordinator for Harpoon Brewery, has received the Woodstock Award from her alma mater, Clarkson University.
Given each year during Reunion Weekend, the Woodstock Award honors young alumni who have demonstrated outstanding loyalty and service to Clarkson and the Alumni Association and who have used their Clarkson experience to make a notable contribution to their careers.
Orth received her Bachelor of Science degree in business and technology management, communication and Areté (double major in liberal arts and business) from Clarkson in 2010. While an undergraduate, Orth earned the Clarkson Commendable Leadership Award and was inducted into Phalanx, Clarkson’s highest honorary leadership society.
Upon graduation, Orth joined IBM Global Business Services in their Consulting by Degrees program, a two-year rotational assignment. In her consulting role, she worked with clients in the energy and utilities sector, as well as the financial sector. Once she completed the program, Orth was promoted to senior consultant.
After more than two years with IBM, she chose to pursue a different path by working for a small company. She accepted a position at Harpoon Brewery in Boston to conceptualize and implement Harpoon’s inaugural field marketing “Road Trip” team, creating marketing opportunities for brand engagement programs. Orth successfully supervised a team that implemented this program throughout the East Coast. Currently, she specializes in sponsorship management and digital marketing.
Orth has been an active member of the Clarkson community since her freshman year and now serves as president of the Boston alumni chapter, where she designs and executes new alumni programs. She also serves as an Alumni Leadership Board member and is a freshman business virtual mentor.
Originally from Owego, N.Y., Orth now resides in Boston.
