The Contradictions’ original members, Laurie Hart (fiddle) and Dave Davies (guitar), will be joined by Doug Robinson (bass fiddle) and special guest Tess Clancy (fiddle) for the Contradance with some Square Dances on Sunday, Oct. 18 at Tioga Trails Café, located on the corner of Lake and Main Street in Owego.
For over 15 years The Contradictions has been offering an eclectic mix of fiddle tunes and songs from American and European traditions. The band’s repertoire includes lively jigs, French Canadian reels, slick bluegrass breaks, and 1930’s hot swing standards.
Contradancing, like square dancing, is done to a walking step and is easy to learn. No experience is necessary. Nancy Spero will be teaching and calling contra and square dances. Each dance is taught and prompted. Bring friends, family, or come by yourself. Partners not required.
General admission is $7, students and seniors 55 and older are $5, and a family maximum is $15.
